Guerrilla Tacos’ take on Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the Mexican victory in the Battle of Puebla in 1862 (C’mon history lesson). Don’t get it Cinnamon Twisted, it is not Mexican Independence Day.  In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is hardly celebrated outside of Puebla. Americans have adopted this holiday as an excuse to celebrate and eat Mexican food and drinks.

Thus, at Guerrilla Tacos we use the holiday to celebrate our Mexican-American heritage and support a good cause.  In the past, we have honored Mexican-American classics with a nod to Taco Bell. This year we are supporting our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. We are hosting Drag Loteria in support of the ACLU’s Drag Defense Fund.

Why Drag Loteria?

We have seen record amounts of Anti-Trans, Anti-Drag and Anti-LGBT legislation throughout the United States. In the spirit of the momentous victory of Puebla, we support the fight against bigotry and small minded thinking.
